Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is a multi-award winning local authority which leads the way in the transformation of efficient and improved public services for its 139,000 citizens.
The borough has a proud manufacturing heritage, world-leading green energy expertise, a diverse and dynamic business community, and a rapidly expanding tourism and hospitality sector.
Council delivers more services to its citizens than ever before – from waste management to leisure and parks provision, tourist, arts and cultural attractions plus economic growth, investment, planning, health, education, community safety and protecting our stunning natural environment.
Tourism is a vital part of our economic growth strategy, and we are working closely with industry partners, plus local communities and the local tourism and hospitality industry to develop our full tourism potential, through community planning, product development, marketing, business support and skills development.
For example, plans are underway to regenerate Carrickfergus, working with key partners in central government to achieve a sizeable increase in visitor numbers to the town. Council are also promoting and investing in the Causeway Coastal Route, including new plans for The Gobbins – our spectacular Victorian coastal walkway, which continues to draw thousands of visitors from around the world. Council are also supporting Gracehill’s application to become a World Heritage site.
Council are determined to drive the economy in the Borough and act as a true partner to the private, public and community sectors.
